Navigator James Cook is one of the most famous explorers of the World Ocean of the 18th century. He made three round-the-world voyages, during which maps of little-known and rarely visited parts of Newfoundland and the eastern coast of Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the western coast of North America, the Pacific, Indian and Atlantic Oceans were compiled. James Cook's maps were so accurate that all seafarers used them until the middle of the XIX century. All this is due to his painstakingness and accuracy in cartography. James Cook was born October 27, 1728 in the English village of Marton. His father was a simple farmhand and breadwinner of a large family.
