Amur tiger: how to save it? The Amur tiger is on the verge of extinction due to human fault. For many years, people destroyed the natural habitat of the predator, destroyed its food base and mercilessly killed because of the beautiful skin. Now is the time to take urgent measures to save the national heritage of Russia. In November 2010, St. Petersburg hosted a summit dedicated to the preservation of the tiger on our planet. Experts and representatives of different States discussed various aspects of this problem for four days. Vladimir Putin took part in this international meeting. Looking through the materials of the conference, I had a strange feeling that many participants had a bad idea why the number of populations of different subspecies of tigers has decreased over the past decades. Probably, at the summit there were too many representative chiefs and officials and very few specialists (zoologists, ecologists and hunting experts) who really possess information and know how to correct a situation. In the materials of the summit there are recommendations to increase the number of tigers. One of them is the need to "improve the management of natural resources". Tigers are exhaustible, renewable resources in the biosphere. The question arises: how can this natural resource be managed if the reproduction process is natural and takes place with the participation of a female and a male? Maybe we have in mind, to establish artificial insemination of females to get more cubs? At this high meeting, an optimistic promise was made to increase the number of Amur tigers by 2 times in a few years! Unfortunately, poor tigers do not understand that if there is such a Directive, they must begin to multiply with renewed energy. Probably, the people who came up with this initiative have no idea that tigers will begin to increase their population only when there will be enough habitats and food for new generations. And if these conditions do not exist, no statements and declarations will help. Thus, the main result of the "tiger summit" is vague recommendations and declarations that have no basis. But one good thing happened: the famous American actor Leonardo DiCaprio, who took part in the summit, donated $ 1 million to tiger protection programs. It is hoped that the money will be used for its intended purpose. The actual steps To save the tiger were recently prohibited by law cutting cedar forests, but up to this point the territory of the cedar taiga was reduced by 10 times. It takes decades to restore the natural habitat of the Amur tiger. As a result of emergency measures to combat poaching, the number of cases of illegal tiger shooting has significantly decreased. But there is still a lot of work to be done in this direction, as the "fashion" for exotic hunting for the taiga predator has not yet passed, and poaching often goes unpunished. A great contribution to the protection of the Amur tiger is made by Russian and international environmental organizations. For example, the Amur tiger conservation program has been one of the main objectives of the world wildlife Fund (WWF) since its inception in Russia. The activities of the tiger protection Fund include the organization of brigades against poachers, the creation and monitoring of protected areas, the fight against illegal logging of cedar and forest fires, educational programs with schoolchildren, students and the local population. Another piece of good news. Recently, the construction of a rehabilitation center for animals in trouble (wounded tigers and cubs, orphans) has begun. "Father of tigers" in 300 km from Vladivostok is the Zoological center of the Biological soil Institute of the far Eastern branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Its Director — Victor Yudin-20 years ago found a couple of cubs in the Rangers. Since then, different generations of tigers live under his care and regularly bring offspring. Tigers live in the center almost in natural conditions. The scientist is monitoring their development and behavior. The cubs feel safe next to the man at first Victor Yudin worked together with foreign environmental funds, but then he abandoned this idea, because his views differed with the methods of preserving rare animals from foreign colleagues: it was important for them to participate in the program, and for Victor — the end result. Did you order a taxi? A few years ago, because of economic difficulties in the country, tigers and other animals were removed from the allowance of the Institute. Since Victor is feeding tigers on his salary. He says that there were cases when there was no food for predators, then he was going to feed the tigers of the only bear. Fortunately, it didn't come to that. Victor is helped by locals and huntsmen who bring food for tigers. On weekends, Yudin's fur farm is often visited by guests, and Victor and his wife conduct excursions and willingly talk about the habits of their Pets. Youngsters on a walk this example shows that can make one man to rescue the rare predator. He has accomplished this feat every day for many years. Who hinders Somehow the Director of the national Park "call of the tiger" and his staff went on an inspection trip to the subordinated territory, but they could not get to it, because the tenant of the adjacent territory put a barrier and protection on the public road. All attempts to negotiate with "prihvatizatory" had no success, because he was afraid for his unique "apiary". But bees on its territory and did not smell. A werewolf man built a well-guarded complex to receive high-rank hunters. And the Director and the staff offered to get to the object on the bypass road. Employees of the Park now have to overcome 500 km instead of 50! To get to the protected area now can not and tourists who have chosen this place for their environmental campaigns. It's good to have mom around. The leadership of the national Park repeatedly appealed to the court with a request to understand the illegal acts of the "beekeeper". But this claim is still not satisfied, the barrier and security are in place, and employees in any season make their way to the workplace in a roundabout way. This is especially dangerous when forest fires begin and it is necessary to extinguish them urgently to preserve the habitat of the tiger. But the new owner of the road are very high patrons, to overcome which no one can, even our fairest of the Russian court! What can each of us do to save the tiger? For example, to join a public environmental organization and conduct outreach among the population. There is a special program in which, by making a certain contribution, you can symbolically "adopt" a tiger. Currently, about 200 tigers are attached. Most importantly, do not remain indifferent. Usually that is not stored, lost — weeping. We still have time to save the Amur tiger from extinction!
